Pee Wees Big Adventure (1985)

I loved Pee Wee Herman growing up here and it only occurred to me much later, when the HBO doc was coming out, that Big Adventure is actually an LA movie. Pee we exists in a hyper saturated suburban playground and hangs out at the Santa Monica promenade much like I did at the time. Childhood itself is the experience of your mind as the mind of all life which is a fantasy wonderfully reinforced in Hollywood. “childhood is the sleep of reason” -Rousseau. LA is similarly a sleep of reason.
